Rugged & Rustic Hardwood Flooring

A hardwood flooring project can add a lot to your home décor by adding warmth and elegance. With handscraped hardwood and wire brushed hardwood floors (or what we call “textured”), you get a beautiful and unique look that is timeless. Handscraped hardwood floors are available in a wide range of colors and species and you will notice that the patterns vary from plank to plank and help you achieve a rustic look with ease. This special hardwood flooring also has the ability to mask minor dents and scratches by blending them into the “scraped” or textured surface.

Designing with Hardscraped Hardwood & Wire Brushed Hardwood Floors

Textured hardwood floors are popular choice for homeowners looking to achieve an authentic and rustic look in their space. There are a few different ways manufacturers achieve this look. For example, hand scraped wood floors are made to look old with some distressing and worn surface features using a technique called hand scraping. Wire brushed wood floors are distressed or textured by scraping the tops of the wood planks with a hard-bristled wire brush. This process is known to pull out and reveal the soft grains from the natural growth ring of a tree.

Handscraped or wire brushed wood floors are ideal for homes with kids and pets or have high traffic areas. Small marks, scratches and dents are easily hidden within the natural scraped texture of the hardwood, making the stress of normal wear and tear minimal. You should still make sure you use floor pads and area rugs to protect your floors and be mindful of moisture or spills as you would with any hardwood floor. But now you don’t have to worry that small flaws will ruin the overall beauty of your new hardwood floors.
